Applications
Main applications
- Loadbank
Load banks are used to test gas or diesel generators and other electrical power supplies. Most load banks have multiple resistor units with fixed ohm values. The resistor units are built from grid blocks that are composed of metal sheets. The metal sheets (grid plates) are laser-cut or punched into the shape required to the needed ohm value. Grid plates are made from steel or alloy. Different materials for the grid plates are selected depending on the customer's requirements.
Danotherm steel grid resistors are compact, reliable, and robust. They can be either natural convection air cooled or forced air cooled. The power ratings for load banks range from a few kW to several MW. The working voltage ranges up to 36 kV.
Resistor enclosures are available in various materials, including galvanized steel, mild steel, or AISI 304 / AISI 316 stainless steel. Load banks are available with different ingress protection ratings. For outdoor applications, IP23 is recommended.
